![]() Apart from that, World Tour has a nice central conceit, especially if you take the game online: it populates each region with local teams. Take+on+the+rest+of+the+planet+in+World+Tour. Occasionally the user interface resembles a mobile device similar to an iPad - you'll be presented with an onscreen keyboard that you can't use, it's just for show, and looks a bit naff and feels like it's trying a little too hard to feel contemporary and cool. In this mode you're invited to build your own street football team, and rise from humble beginnings on local backstreets to a world final held in Brazil, the spiritual home of street football. Menu screens and graphics are an urban mix of stained tarmac and bold graffiti, but it's the World Tour that highlights the game's lacklustre presentation. The presentation of FIFA Street isn't as ostentatious as its precursors but that's probably an intentional design decision, a way of sobering up the franchise and aligning it more closely with FIFA 12. A handful of international teams are also present, as are various All-Star teams which you unlock during the game. A lot of players feel the same, regardless of the position they play, so defenders don't feel any more solid than a diminutive playmaker. Choose a top team – say, Manchester United – and you'll be able to cherry-pick a street team. Teams from the top leagues in Europe are present, but you won't find teams from lower or more exotic divisions. Furthermore, goalkeepers sometimes make baffling decisions, leaving your goal exposed, but it's never so bad that it spoils the experience. But because environments are much tighter, players collide more frequently, resulting in some strange and frustrating tangles. The game uses the a lot of the same technology as FIFA 12, so players move and react in similar ways. You+can+play+on+more+than+just+streets.+Like+rooftops. Games lack the palpable atmosphere that you find in FIFA 12. Occasionally, it's a little strange to hear players from around the world communicating with inappropriate accents, but it's a minor niggle that will only trouble the pedantic. Instead, you'll be able to hear the shouts of your players as they hustle play and demand the ball. The camera is locked-off and there's no commentary. It introduces a refreshing and welcomed degree of variety to matches. Conversely, a match on a larger playing surface will encourage passing and more enterprising playing styles. Play on a smaller pitch and things are a bit more crowded – you'll pass less and rely more on close control. These variables subtly influence the way in which a game unfolds. ![]() The dimension of pitches vary, as do the size of the goals. And this isn't just superficial gloss – each environment is subtly different. You can play in parks, gyms, and backstreets, on a rooftop in Shanghai, or in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Although none of the stages rouse you like a packed Wembley stadium, there's a great deal of variety. ![]() A lot of the environments are interesting and vibrant, but lack the level of detail to really sell them. Presentation is good, but never approaches breathtaking. ![]() But FIFA Street isn't a cynical, half-hearted entry into the series, it's got an interesting career mode, a simple yet effective control scheme, and is just really, really good fun when played with friends. And that's no bad thing when the other game is FIFA 12, one of the best-selling sports games ever made. This doesn't mean it's been sapped of what makes street football potentially so electric and exhilarating it simply creates a sense of continuity between the two titles. ![]()

![]() ![]() The key to using this book is not just to read it, but to breathe it in and make sure you understand every last page of it. Knowing this book cover-to-cover should be your goal, as it is necessary for achieving a good score on the exam.įirst Aid outlines all of the high-yield material covered on Step 1, as well as some of the more obscure material that often shows up. Often referred to as "the Bible" (for good reason), First Aid for USMLE Step 1 should be seen as the backbone of your study program. So, you may wonder, “Great! Now I know which resources to use, but how the heck do I use them?” I’m glad you asked. The answer is that the key to USMLE Step 1 success is not quantity of resources, but rather quality of resource use. Right about now, you're probably asking how this could be possible. These 5 resources are the absolute maximum amount of resources that most students should use. Note: Because a good understanding of physiology and pathology is required to perform well on USMLE Step 1, we often suggest BRS Physiology and Pathoma as well (but these are not required for every student). These resources will cover at least 90% of what you are likely to encounter on USMLE Step 1 and have been proven effective by tens of thousands of test takers over the years. These are the USMLE study resources that top scorers use and are the only study resources we recommend that every student use for Step 1 prep: There are a few study resources that have perfected the art of predicting what will be tested on the exam. This means that most of your exam preparation time should be spent studying things you know are going to be well represented, or “high-yield,” on the exam. The USMLE Step 1 exam is no different.Īlthough the exam covers a great deal of material, it is actually a pretty predictable exam. It is true of most things in life that the people who excel the most are those who master the basics rather than spending an enormous amount of time on minutiae with little pay off. The key points of the conversation are as follows: Fewer USMLE Study Resources = Better Performance In the process, I then explain the best USMLE study resources and how to make optimal use of each one. Trust me, you’re better off using fewer resources and mastering them than skimming over many resources and not knowing any of them well.”Īt this point, I usually get a mixed look of relief and disbelief, and I often have to spend quite a bit of time convincing the student that all those extraneous resources are just not necessary. “You will use these 3 books, a Qbank, and almost nothing else. I take 3 books out of the pile and leave all the rest. “What am I missing?” the student asks, concerned about forgetting the secret ingredient to acing Step 1. A new USMLE Step 1 student shows up to our first meeting with a huge pile of books that would require Herculean strength just to carry, along with a slew of online video subscriptions and Qbanks for future use. ![]() ![]() ![]() Disabling the automatic renewal must be done 24-hours before the end of the subscription period to avoid being charged. That means these brushes are the primary limiter of brush DC motor life - with higher speeds accelerating wear. In contrast, DC-motor brushes (whether graphite or precious metal) physically contact the rotor’s commutators, so wear over time. The magnet on the rotor (in grey) is precision balanced the PCB that controls the electronic commutation (green) is embedded inside the motor housing. Shown here is a cutaway of a Portescap Ultra EC 35ECS slotless brushless motor. Contact-free BLDC commutation (usually via magnetic Hall sensors or a sensorless drive with a brushless motor controller) limits all mechanical wear to that of the motor-shaft support bearings … so with precision bearings, these motors can operate at high rpm over (in some cases) hundreds or thousands of surgeries. Brushless motors are capable of speeds up to 100,000 rpm over a long design life. ![]() Though they may be too costly for disposable power tools, BLDC motors offer top reliability - so are the most common motor type in reusable power tools. These are more suitable than BLDC motors where cost effectiveness is the top design objective.īrushless DC motors for reusable tools - brush DC motors for single-use The increasing popularity of disposable surgical power tools (such as surgical staplers) has prompted more demand for higher-performance brush DC motors. In contrast, the components in disposable tools only need to perform for one surgery - which necessitates that these components be available in high volumes and at a competitive price. Reusable tools must often last hundreds or even thousands of surgeries - so must integrate premium components. However, their design life and cost requirements are vastly different. Reusable and disposable surgical tools often have equivalent motor-performance requirements. Nowhere is this more apparent (or significant) than with today’s brush DC and brushless DC (BLDC) motors both of which have lower price points and higher performance than in the past. Recent component design and manufacturing advances have rendered many single-use power tool designs for complex surgery a cost-effective option. Here we compare these two options.Īn early step of surgical power tool engineering is to determine whether the design will be disposable or reusable. Engineers who design these tools usually specify brush DC or brushless DC motors. Disposable medical hand tools are seeing increased use due to their cost and hygiene benefits. ![]() ![]() ![]() The game begins with the Bravo team flying overhead, Codes.
